About

Community 100 is an impactful initiative by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), aimed at providing digital visibility to 100 remote villages across Jammu and Kashmir. The project’s objective is to promote the unique cultural heritage, historical significance, and tourism potential of these villages, which often remain underrepresented. Through the creation of dedicated online microsites for each village, Community 100 offers a digital window for the world to appreciate the rich traditions, scenic beauty, and stories of these remote communities.

A significant component of this project is the involvement of dedicated NSS student volunteers from MIET, who played an active role in gathering authentic data. These students conducted on-ground visits to each village, engaging with the local population through interviews and documenting their narratives, traditions, and daily lives. They captured photographs and collected a wealth of cultural and historical information that adds depth to each microsite. By sharing these experiences online, Community 100 not only creates a virtual presence for the villages but also supports local tourism and cultural education.

The success of Community 100 stands as a testament to the commitment and enthusiasm of the NSS volunteers from MIET. Their efforts in building connections with the communities and sharing their stories honor the true spirit of social service and bridge the gap between urban and rural areas, paving the way for future community-based digital initiatives.
