Rakh Chidk Village (Jammu Region):
Rakh Chidk is a small rural village located in the Samba district of the Jammu region in Jammu and Kashmir. The village represents a typical Dogra rural settlement where agriculture and livestock form the main sources of livelihood. History:
Rakh Chidk does not have a recorded ancient or royal history, but it developed gradually as an agricultural village. The word “Rakh” traditionally referred to forest or reserved land in the Jammu region, which was later converted into cultivated and residential land. During the Dogra rule in the nineteenth century, land settlements helped villages like Rakh Chidk grow. Over generations, families settled permanently, and after independence the village saw gradual development in roads, electricity, education, and connectivity.

Cuisine:
The cuisine of Rakh Chidk is simple, seasonal, and based on local produce, reflecting traditional Dogra food habits. Daily meals usually include wheat or maize rotis, rice, lentils, saag, and curd or buttermilk.
