Introduction to the Solo Project
As part of an individual field documentation initiative, I, Shreya Sharma, undertook an in-depth solo research project to explore the socio-cultural, ecological, and infrastructural landscape of Makhyal Village, located in the Jammu region. The project was aimed at preserving local narratives, documenting authentic rural life, and highlighting the cultural wealth of smaller yet significant communities.
This project included direct field visits, geo-tagged visual documentation, and video testimonials of villagers, all compiled into a documentary-style presentation. Engaging with complete strangers, understanding their stories, and witnessing their rituals and way of life was a deeply enriching experience.
