INTRODUCTION OF MAKHANPUR

Makhanpur is a village located in the Bishnah Block of Jammu district in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, India. It lies approximately 20 km south of Jammu city, the district headquarters. Geographically, Makhanpur is bordered by Purmandal  to the north, R.S Pura  to the west, Satwari  to the northwest, and Vijaypur to the east. 

 

POPULATION AND URBANIZATION

 The Makhanpur village has population of 1846 of which 962 are males while 884 are females as per Population Census 2011. In Makhanpur village population of children with age 0-6 is 195 which makes up 10.56 % of total  population of village . Average Sex Ratio of Makhan Purcharkan village is 919 which is higher than Jammu and Kashmir state average of 889. Child Sex Ratio for the Makhanpur as per census is 653, lower than Jammu and Kashmir average of 862.

A  notable focal point is the Shri Satguru Kabir Mandir in Makhanpur, reflecting the strong spiritual presence of Sant Kabir's teachings in the region. Also Bishnah features historic shrines including the Radha Krishna Mandir, Kundeshwar Temple, and the Peer Baba shrine, highlighting the region's multi-cultural and inter-faith harmony.
