Martyr Rifleman Satish Bhagat

Rifleman Satish Bhagat was born in Gurha Singhu village, Shamachak, in Jammu district. He joined the 3rd Battalion, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (3 JAK Rif) in 2015, following the proud military tradition of his family. On 12 July 2017, while deployed at a forward post in the Keran Sector of Kupwara along the Line of Control (LoC), he was critically injured in enemy sniper fire during an operational deployment. Despite immediate medical assistance, he succumbed to his injuries in the line of duty at the age of 22.

He was laid to rest with full military honours in his native village, where thousands of people gathered to pay their respects. Rifleman Satish Bhagat's courage, patriotism, and supreme sacrifice continue to inspire the youth of Gurha Singhu and stand as a symbol of the village's proud contribution to the defence of the nation
