Description
Sarbal is the last inhabited village of Kashmir, nestled about 10 km from Sonamarg in the Ganderbal district. Surrounded by Himalayan peaks and alpine meadows, it is renowned for its natural beauty, traditional wooden homes, and resilient community. With around 600 residents in 104 houses and 200+ families, the village's economy is based on potato and vegetable farming and seasonal work during the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage. Life here is marked by strong family ties, simple routines, and respect for nature. Sarbal offers authentic rural experiences including local cuisine, handicrafts, trekking, and eco-friendly camping. Visitors typically stay in nearby Sonamarg or village-based stays for genuine hospitality.
