Introduction to Nadore Village

Nadore Village is a part of the Nagrota area in Jammu. This Village is situated in the Nagrota tehsil (administrative division) of Jammu district. Nagrota is located on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), about 15 kilometers from Jammu city. The region has seen various rulers and kingdoms due to its strategic location between the plains of Jammu and the Himalayan ranges. Nagrota and its surroundings have been witness to significant events during the partition of India in 1947 and the subsequent Indo-Pak conflicts. The area holds military significance due to its proximity to the border with Pakistan.

 

Population and Urbanization

Nadore village has estimated population of around 3000 approx in which male and females are in the ratio of 1:1. In Nadore village death rate is lower as majority population is above 50 years.

Infrastructure Development: Nadore  has seen improvements in connectivity (roads), encouraging migration from nearby rural areas.

  •  Khamira Roti is made from a dough of whole wheat flour (atta), yogurt (dahi), ghee (clarified butter), and sometimes milk. The addition of yogurt and ghee gives the roti its soft texture and rich flavor.
  • Phirni: A creamy rice pudding made with ground rice, milk, sugar, and flavored with cardamom and saffron. It is often served chilled in earthenware pots

  • Traditional Music: Folk songs in Dogri, the local language, are a hallmark of cultural expression in rural Jammu. Songs often celebrate life events, seasonal changes, and religious themes.
  • Dance Forms: Folk dances like Kud might be performed during festivals and celebrations, accompanied by traditional instruments.

Natural Beauty and Recreational Spaces

1.      Nadore View point:  It is situated near tawi river at the top of mountain. It shows beautiful view of local area and also places near tawi river

2.      Nadore ponds:  It is believed to have been a popular spot during the time of the Dogra rulers. The pond is also linked to local traditions and  which contribute to its historical importance. Its natural beauty and historical associations make it a noteworthy landmark in the region.

3.      River : Tawi river flows though this area .

4.      Farms : Nadore area is enriched with different farms like: wheat, corn, sugarcane etc

5.      Mango orchids : This area has large quantity of Mango Orcihids. The civilians of Nadore are also sell Mangoes in Narwal Mandi.

Memorials: Military establishments often include war memorials or plaques commemorating soldiers who have served or sacrificed their lives in defense of the nation.
