Sheesham Trees (Indian Rosewood) was once a defining feature of the village’s forests. Unfortunately, the timber mafia exploited these valuable trees, leading to severe deforestation. The community is now actively participating in tree-planting drives to combat deforestation. They understand the importance of preserving the remaining natural vegetation and are working together to restore the lost forest cover.

Fauna

Wild Pigs, Peacocks, and Vultures are commonly seen in the village’s surroundings. These animals are a part of everyday scenery for the villagers. Leopards are occasionally spotted near the village. Although sightings have become rare now, the stories of leopard encounters are still shared with great excitement. The village is home to various birds like Sparrows and Parrots. Occasionally, one might spot a Peacock or hear its distinct call in the early morning. The loss of Sheesham and other native trees has also impacted the local fauna. Birds and animals that depended on these trees for shelter and food are now seen less frequently.

Due to the intense scarcity of water in this village, agriculture is very limited and is largely dependent on rainfall. Commonly grown Rabi Crops are Wheat and Mustard while Kharif crops are Bajra and Maize. Groundwater levels are so low that groundwater is totally inaccessible to common farmers.

The majority of the people in the village rely on Government Jobs as their primary source of livelihood. A significant portion of the population works in various government departments, given the limited private sector opportunities in the area. Although Agriculture is practiced, it plays a secondary role due to water scarcity and limited land for farming. With fewer government job openings in recent years, more people have started seeking employment in the Private Sector, especially in nearby Jammu city. In sum, government employment remains the backbone of the village's economy, but a shift toward private-sector jobs is slowly taking place due to changes in job availability.
