INTRODUCTION TO KOTHEY HOSHIYARU :-

Kothey Hoshiyaru is a small but culturally rich village. The name of the village has its roots in history-long ago, there was only one big house (kothey in Dogri) owned by a man named Hoshiyaru. Over time, the place came to be known as Kothey Hoshiyaru. The village is known for its simplicity, unity among people, and its strong connection to traditions and festivals.

Cultural Heritage :-

The people of Kothey Hoshiyaru live a simple and traditional life, closely connected to their customs. All festivals are celebrated here in a normal way, but Baisakhi is given special importance and is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm. During Janmashtami and Navratri, the village organizes Bhagwat Katha, where people gather to listen to religious stories and participate in devotional activities. These events are believed to bring blessings to the village and strengthen the sense of unity among the people. Such traditions reflect the cultural and spiritual richness of Kothey Hoshiyaru.

The principal attractions of Kothey Hoshiyaru are its festivals and cultural events. The village celebrates all festivals in a simple yet traditional manner, but Baisakhi is celebrated with special enthusiasm. During Janmashtami and Navratri, the village organizes Bhagwat Katha, which attracts people from nearby areas as well. These occasions bring the community together and showcase the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the village.

Historical Monuments :-

One of the important historical places in Kothey Hoshiyaru is an old temple, which was built in the 1970s. According to the local people, a priest (pandit) lived there who was known for resting by opening and stretching his limbs in a unique way. This temple became a place of faith and gathering for the villagers. Even today, the temple follows the tradition of being closed every evening at 7 o'clock, which is remembered as a special practice connected to its history.

Population and Urbanization :-

Kothey Hoshiyaru has a population of nearly 35,000 people. The majority of the residents depend on agriculture and traditional occupations for their livelihood, while some are engaged in small businesses and labor work. The village is not highly urbanized. Modern facilities such as shops, schools, and basic services are slowly developing, but the lifestyle of the people remains largely rural and connected to age-old traditions.
