Brief History

Gupwal Village is part of the Samba District of Jammu and Kashmir. It originated during the time of independence as several families from mishriwala and akhnoor migrated here and started living here .  Gupwal carries a reputation of a peaceful village with a clean environment nurturing its youth.People of this village excel at education and a lot of population also indulge in agricultural activities.

 

Population

Gupwal is a relatively small village with a population of just around 200 residents as reported by the Panchat.  Dogri is the most commonly spoken language with Hindi at a close second.


Urbanisation

Gupwal over the decade has gone through a rapid urbanisation. The development of Roads, Schools, Modern Houses and Internet services has been encouraging for the village's growth. The village’s close proximity to NH-44A has only helped in further increasing the rate of urbanisation with most people opting for careers in business and offices rather than agriculture.It falls under Salmeri panchayat .

 

Cultural Heritage
