With a population of nearly 5,000, the local governing body is known as Halka Battal Panchayat.

One of the most significant landmarks of Battal is the historic Shivasan Mandir. The temple holds not only religious importance but also a place in the village’s history. Years ago, terrorists hid inside the temple and took some local children hostage. Showing immense courage, the children managed to escape, alert the nearby army, and help prevent a tragedy. The army swiftly acted and neutralized the terrorists. This incident remains a shining example of the bravery and spirit of Battal.
